Order Picking

The Versatile Warehouse™ supports efficient picking operations across all types of storage zones. Enhanced throughput is easily achieved using flexible rules to define individual order batching schemes for all zones. Topping the list of efficiency gains, order fulfillment across multiple zones is always synchronized for maximum throughput with minimal material handling hardware costs.

For those workstations servicing automated devices such as horizontal or vertical carousels, intuitive graphical user interfaces provide guidance, while light-directed picking technologies ensure the accuracy you demand.

Picking from more static storage areas such as shelving or flow rack is integrated through either light-pointing equipment, work lists or batched labels. For these zones, operator travel paths are always optimized using flexible configuration rules by zone.

For those applications employing a more complex automation scheme, the Versatile Warehouse™ provides advanced conveyor and sortation system management. It employs interface techniques that allow it to dynamically react to material handling flow conditions. This eliminates "islands of automation" and guarantees maximum throughput for your system investment.

A summary of feature highlights provided by the Versatile Warehouse™ for order picking includes:

  • Automatic or manual order release
  • External system order/line coordination
  • Prioritize by FIFO, priority rank, or due date
  • Pick & pass, parallel pick, or both

Receiving / Induction

While the receiving process for most warehouse environments may be as simple as checking-in stock arrivals, the Versatile Warehouse™ has been designed to provide a large variety of special handling features to accommodate the more complex material handling requirements.

Flexible Induction stations provide swift and precise directives for handling inbound materials, and may easily be equipped with light devices to increase overall efficiency and accuracy.

Seamless integration of automated conveyor used to deliver inducted items to their storage zones can be accommodated during initial system implementation, or added later as throughput demand increases.

Barcode technology is utilized to identify an assortment of incoming stock units from single items, to cases and/or pallets. A variety of receipt/induction labels may be printed to accompany identified lots into storage locations.

Versatile Warehouse™ receiving/induction feature highlights include:

  • Dedicated Receiving and/or Induction stations
  • Receipt verification against purchase order
  • Manual receipt entry from scratch
  • Receipt and/or putaway label printing
  • Build Induction batches with put-to-light
  • Print induction tickets for manual delivery
  • Hot allocation by advanced storage rules
  • Split lot quantities by zone and location
  • Unlimited unit of measures per Item
  • Lot, Batch, Vendor and Receipt Time tracking
  • Automated weigh scale verification

Stock Putaway

Strategic planning for efficient warehouse management greatly depends on proper storage configuration and putaway management.

The Versatile Warehouse™ provides many features to accommodate a multitude of storage configurations and operational procedures to ensure efficient inventory retrieval following well managed putaway.

Extensive system configuration allows storage location suggestion at the time of Induction, or at one or more dedicated putaway stations. In many applications, received materials may be staged at specified zones for later putaway by mobile operators.

System directed putaway is based on SKU profile data supplied by the customer including: cube and/or velocity classifications, UOM, min/max levels, quantity limitations, and lot commingling rules. For storage locations under control of automated material handling devices (such as automated carousels), specific optimization rules may be selectively applied.

The following features are available to increase the throughput and accuracy of stock putaway:

  • Configurable location selection algorithms
  • Putaway by light, ticket, label or work list
  • Lights identify location and/or batch member
  • Unlimited locations for any Item/UOM
  • Min/Max levels by item, UOM, and zone
  • Selective UOM segregation (unit, case, pallet)
  • Fixed and/or random locations by item and zone
  • Batch putaway in automated or static storage
  • Selective commingling by location or item
  • Scan verify by location, item and or container
  • Hot putaway by single item or batch
  • Real-time storage notification to Host

Replenishment

Prompt and accurate Replenishment of stock quantities into primary picking zones can make the difference between struggling through order fulfillment, and meeting your daily shipping schedules with ease. When you need ultimately flexible replenishment rules to manage your restocking operations, the Versatile Warehouse™ steps up to the plate and drives home your winning run.

With all inventory control configurations, our system features will allow you to replenish between an unlimited number of unit of measures for a single item, across an unlimited number of storage zones. If your facility utilizes automated conveyor, allow our tightly integrated system to automatically deliver stock quantities between zones for you. For manual movement, you can choose between several methods of replenishment directives to ensure efficient deliveries to the correct locations.

Mix and match any of these replenishment features to build your successful combination:

  • Automated or manual replenishment
  • User defined replenishment rules for individual zones
  • Automatic quantity translation between unit of measures
  • Unlimited number of unit of measures across unlimited zones
  • Hot replenishment available during order fulfillment
  • Generate replenishments by item mask, category, UOM or zone
  • Limit replenishments by maximum number, or fulfillment ratio
  • Replenish by light direction, tickets, labels or work lists
  • Process batches of replenishments simultaneously
